Revised Fall 2025
This short-form syllabus template includes all the elements required by the Code of Teaching Conduct and a few critical course guidance statements. Adhering to this template will help ensure that your syllabus meets MSU’s digital content accessibility requirements.
The template has been updated with relevant date and policy changes for Fall 2025.
To use the template, download the file, open it in Microsoft Word, then add your course-specific content as appropriate.
Revised September 2025
This syllabus template meets all MSU syllabus content requirements and is fully compliant with accessibility standards for both printed and online documents, such as color contrast, sans serif font, hierarchical headings usage, and removal of tables.
When you distribute to students, it is best to use the native format, which in this case would be sharing a non-editable link to a Google Doc or Word Doc. When distributing your syllabus, you can make it open for comments so that learners can ask questions directly in the document.
Consistency in syllabus design and branding ensures that all students can easily access critical course and MSU information, policies, and procedures.
Use the optional signature page or a one-question D2L quiz to collect attestations from students that they have read and understand the syllabus.
